Overview
ICAEW needed a question authoring and test compilation platform that would also let them carry out complex results analysis, so they could be confident their exams were fair, reliable and consistent. The platform had to:
- import a large number of existing questions easily
- be usable by external question authors
- provide detailed results analysis
- export data in the format required by ICAEW's third-party psychometric software
- be easy to use and available to many ICAEW users
The challenge
ICAEW wanted to continue delivering tests through a global test centre provider, which meant the authoring tool had to export questions in a highly customised form of QTI, with little documentation available on that configuration. Results data then needed to come back in the same QTI format, be interrogated, and be exported onward to third-party psychometric analysis software.
The solution
ICAEW chose Rogo because Eintech's software development team have proven capability in complex customisation and integration with other platforms. Clear, open communication between Eintech, ICAEW and the test delivery provider was essential, along with a great deal of testing to ensure tests behaved in the delivery system exactly as they had been set up in Rogo. Without that shared understanding of what was required, it would not have worked.
The results
Rogo gives ICAEW a seamless link to their test delivery provider's platform. Questions are written and tests compiled in Rogo, all data including how questions and assessments operate is passed to the delivery platform, and results data is passed back. ICAEW use Rogo's own results analysis and reporting for the majority of results information, exporting to a psychometric tool for specialist analysis.
Rogo is also used by ICAEW to deliver practice examinations to over 3,000 candidates each month, giving detailed feedback on areas of weakness and suggested learning topics.
